August 2009

August is certainly the busiest month of the year for us at Kafulafuta. As many of you know, August is the month which we have our annual Bible conference It is one of those events you spend so much time praying about, planning, preparing and then suddenly, it is over! We had a fantastic conference in which the theme was, "The truth shall make you free". We had a mixture of Zambian and American preachers opening God's word to call the lost to the Cross and the saved to the place of obedience.

After all the dust settled, I believe the final tally was 1,600 children at our kids Bible conference and close to 3,000 adults for our main Bible conference. Hundreds of decisions were made! People came from all over Zambia to hear the preaching and enjoy solid fellowship. Most of the Zambians that came slept outside, cooked around a campfire, and sang songs of worship until late into the evening. The only complaint I heard was one man asking why we don’t extend the conference for an extra week! A hearty thanks to the team from Alabama and New York as well as the other preachers that came in --- we know the Lord really did a great work through each of them!

Now that the conference is over, we are quickly trying to transform the mission station back into a training center as we will be opening our 3rd term of Bible Institute on Tuesday. We are expecting to have 15 students with the possibility of 4 new students joining us including 2 deaf students. The Lord really seems to be opening up the opportunity to minister in diverse directions!

We will be traveling to the border town of Nakonde this week to help a Zambian pastor with his church and vision of providing a quality education from a Christian world-view. We are planning a one-week stay and have a very tight schedule to get all accomplished.

As many of you know, Savannah is pregnant! We recently had a check-up at the local clinic. The doctor gave her positive feedback. We will be coming back to the States to deliver our first baby as well as attend a couple mission conferences, reconnect with family and friends, and see some of you all!

We recently had one of our Zambian trained men, Anderson Chimfumpa, leave for Botswana to begin a work near the capital city. This is obviously quite exciting as we see these men taking more responsibility to fulfill the Great Commission

Please be praying:

- Spiritual growth along with strong Christian families in our churches
- Savannah and the baby
- God’s leading, wisdom, and direction for Anderson Chimfumpa in Botswana
- Safe and edifying trip to Nakonde this next week

Savannah and I have been greatly encouraged by all the emails and nice cards recently received. It is a blessing to hear from so many of you (Prov 25:25).

Lord bless
